{"id":2612,"date":"2023-06-13T10:57:19","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T10:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/medgift.hevs.ch\/wordpress\/?p=2612"},"modified":"2023-06-13T10:57:21","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T10:57:21","slug":"congratulations-to-dr-niccolo-marini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/medgift.hevs.ch\/wordpress\/congratulations-to-dr-niccolo-marini\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to Dr. Niccol\u00f2 Marini !"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Niccol\u00f2 Marini successfully defended his PhD work on \u201cDeep learning methods to reduce the need for annotations for the extraction of knowledge from multimodal heterogeneous medical data\u201d.<br>His thesis focused on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>how to alleviate the need for manual annotations to train deep learning algorithms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how to leverage color variability to improve the CNN generalization on unseen data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how to learn a more details WSI representation combining multiple magnification levels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how to empower the raw-pixel level image representation introducing high-level concepts from textual reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This work was co-supervised by Prof. Henning M\u00fcller and Prof. Manfredo Atzori, Institute of Informatics, University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HESSO), Prof. Stephane Marchand-Maillet, Department of Computer Science, University of Geneva.
